Julien-K

As members of Orgy, Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh experienced platinum success, sold-out tours with the likes of Korn, their first hit, “Blind,” Shuck also co-wrote, and the feeling of hearing one of their songs constantly on the radio thanks to multiple top 10 hits, including “Fiction” and “Stitches,” and their ubiquitous cover of New Order’s “Blue Monday”, a track whose universal appeal led it to #1 on the Dance Music chart, a top 5 on the Modern Rock chart, and became a crossover hit on the Top 40 pop charts.

Eventually Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh created JULIEN-K to apply themselves more to electronic music instead of rock music. “We are this sort of hybrid of an electronic band and a rock band, which Orgy was as well, but we’re actually skewed more electronic.“ says Derakh and gets completed by singer Ryan:  “That was the initial thought behind Orgy, to become an electronic band that could play with the likes of the rock bands,”

Together with Brandon Belsky (keyboards) and Elias Andra (drums), who are friends with guitarist Amir and Ryan (vocals / guitar) for years, JULIEN-K is born – the revolution may begin.

After their song „Technical Difficulties“ is handpicked by Hollywood director Michael Bay for inclusion in the movie and soundtrack of Transformers, the band plays Projekt Revolution as one of the acts on the main stage next to Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, HIM, Placebo and Taking Back Sunday. Next to support tours for Evanescence and Mindless Self Indulgence they released several promo singles on their own including different remixes. Working with Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) for a remix of the The Cure song “Sleep When I’m Dead“ plus some other remixes for e.g. Avenged Sevenfold and (in cooperation with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park) for Mindless Self Indulgence follow soon.

This will not be the only project for JULIEN-K to work with Chester, who established the nu metal scene with his band Linkin Park at the end of the 90's. In the past both of the parties have already teamed up with Anthony
‚FU’ Valcic (mixer, producer and programmer for bands like Orgy, NIN, Skinny Puppy Marilyn Manson and Staind as well as being a member of Dead By Sunrise) for the song “Morning After“ which can be found on the soundtrack of Underworld: Evolution.
